Mainframes are lightweight, disposable, flameproof fiber colour frames (gel frames) that can be closed with a staple in seconds. By using Mainframes, the colour frames for an entire production will weigh very little and cost very little.
Note: The Mainframes fiber material is flameproof and will not burn, but some hot wash lights will cause it to dry and crack. Best performance is with hard edge ellipsoidals like Source Four.
Why are City Theatrical Mainframes Cardboard Gel Frames Purple?
In approximately 2021 City Theatrical was required to find a new flameproofing treatment for the Mainframe colour frames. After investigating many options, City Theatrical landed on a new treatment product however this solution resulted in a finished product with a lavender or "purple" colour. Although, in many applications the colour of the gel frames does not matter, it may matter in your application. Please consider this before ordering. Neither City Theatrical nor Horizon Solutions can not guarantee the exact colour or hue of the Mainframe provided.
